About the Owner
Benjamin’s creative foundation began at age three, fueled by a lifelong obsession with drawing and an encouraging family. He transitioned from intensive studio art and fine arts painting into a design degree, eventually returning to the Skagit Valley. It was here that he took his practice out of the studio and into the field, becoming dedicated to plein air painting—the discipline of painting entirely on location.
This commitment to high-level craftsmanship extended into a specialized apprenticeship, where Benjamin mastered the fabrication of glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC). He designed and built functional, high-end architectural pieces, including custom countertops, water features, and furniture for a premium market.
A four-year period living in Baja, Mexico, served as a pivotal shift in his artistic vision. This separation from Washington and the United States allowed him to focus deeply on the culture and purpose behind his work. Today, his craft has evolved into large-scale, multimedia plein air pieces created while living on location in dense, remote environments. These works are highly intricate, contemporary impressionistic studies that balance realism with elements of abstraction. Benjamin’s life mirrors the complexity of his art—a constant pursuit of high-level execution and a lifestyle built around the grit of his craft.
